Individualized Care

Being a midwife is not just my profession—it is my calling. I believe every birthing person deserves care that is personalized, respectful, and centered on their unique needs and goals. In my practice, prenatal visits last a full hour, far beyond the standard 15-minute appointments typical in traditional OB care. During our time together, we complete all standard clinical assessments—blood pressure, urine, fundal height, fetal position, and heart rate. But we also go deeper, discussing your nutrition, hydration, stress management, and birth preferences. We build a relationship rooted in trust and understanding, which supports your body and mind to work in harmony during labor. This depth of care allows your birth experience to unfold with confidence and calm.

Evidence-Based Approach

Midwifery is not fringe or alternative—it is legitimate, licensed healthcare grounded in evidence. Numerous studies show that healthy, low-risk individuals—including those over 35 or with higher BMIs—experience fewer interventions, cesareans, and complications when working with Licensed Midwives in out-of-hospital settings. Their babies also tend to have better outcomes. Our care is both compassionate and clinically sound. For more research, we invite you to explore the Midwives Alliance of North America (mana.org) and Evidence Based Birth (evidencebasedbirth.com).

Informed Consent

Informed consent is not a form—it's a conversation. It means listening to you first: your questions, concerns, and goals. I provide education and guidance so that you can make confident, informed decisions for yourself and your baby. Instead of simply handing you a lab slip or asking for a signature, I take the time to walk you through each test or procedure well in advance.

For example, we’ll begin discussing gestational diabetes screening (typically done between 26–28 weeks) at least one visit ahead of time. You’ll receive information on risk factors, options under both the medical and midwifery models, my recommendations, and resources for your own research. This gives you time—often several weeks—to consider your options and choose the path that best supports your values and goals.
